Jeffrey Cantrell Obituary

Jeffrey Scott Cantrell

(June 26, 1962 - February 21, 2024)

Jeffrey Scott Cantrell went to be with our Lord on February 21, 2024, at his home in Riverside, Ohio. Jeff was born on June 26, 1962, to Dolphy (Doc) Cantrell and the late Loverna (Kilgore) Cantrell; in Dayton, Ohio.

Jeff is preceded in death by his mother Loverna; maternal grandparents Dillard and Teddy Kilgore and paternal grandparents James and Roxie Cantrell; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jeff is survived by his father Doc, his sister Karen (Cantrell) Morgan and brother-in-law Walter (Jr) Morgan, Nephews Zachary (Sable) Morgan, Kaleb (Crystal Stephen) Morgan, niece Zoey, nephews Axel and Abel. Jeff is also survived by a loving host of family, friends, and his beautiful dog Dolly.

Jeff was born with a unique sense of humor and humility. If Jeff had a dollar, he would give away ninety cents. As a young boy, Jeff would become the center of everyone’s world, and he proved to be quite an entertainer. He excelled in sports, particularly football and baseball. Jeff was coached by his dad and uncle Darlie, so as you can imagine the stories from Fairborn Little League are endless and legendary. He was a proud son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Jeff also loved gatherings and good food.  His dad’s ham, Grandma Teddy’s chicken and dumplings, and the Morgan seafood boils were among his favorites, of course his mom always made sure he had baked beans. Jeff loved life, he had an infectious, boisterous laugh that could be heard for miles.  He is celebrated as a storyteller, a master jokester and he never met a stranger.  After school, Jeff went into construction and was recruited into concrete masonry, which led him to several states and a wealth of opportunities.  As Jeff aged his health became a challenge.  From years of strenuous work and surgeries, he suffered but never let the pain stop him.  Jeff is a one of a kind person, he will be missed dearly by all, but his legacy and stories will live on forever.  To know Jeff was to love him. Days before his passing, Jeff was fixing up bicycles he had found at a garage sale to gift to kids in his neighborhood.  Being kind and giving to others is what brought Jeff true joy.  We are certain everyone has a great “Jeff” story or joke, may we always continue to share them so the generations to come will remember Jeffrey Scott Cantrell and his spirit of giving.
